Gili itself is a very interesting tourism destination. I never had been there myself. But, I've heard from many friends about it. If you may consider alternatives for water-tourism that might be suitable, I'd recommend "Bunaken" (Northern Celebes, Sulawesi-Island) which famous for the underwater experience, and "Raja Ampat" which famous for the wild-underwater tourism and the landscape (it is located in Papua Island)..
