Boy am I a cheap dude!, I built mine finished for 60cents a
watt, i used 3/4 angle steel frames, salvaged glass, and FRP panel for
the backs. If you solder the cells with a 1/4" gap between them you can
put a bead of silicone between each cell (not on them) let it tack up
good then put it around the edge then drop in the glass. 3 years 144
watts, 23 volts and not one issue.
$800.00 FOR A 180 WATT SOLAR PANEL? That's a crazy price brand new let alone a DIY panel. Not knocking your vid at all, but your numbers are WAY off as far as DIY materials go. NO WHERE NEAR THAT TO BUILD A 180 watt panel. Panel can be done properly for 1 dollar a watt. Slygaurd is good, but newer replacements cost half the price and work just as well. The aluminum frame costs 40 bucks TOPS to build properly, and a Kilowatt (1,000) watts worth of PV cells runs an average of 400 bucks on ebay.
